A week of implementations meeting each other, and months of work taking shape. From 30 August to 3 September 2026, Nicolas Chalanset and Loïc Perry supported France Identité in Geneva: first at the ISO mdoc and PhotoID interoperability tests, then at Global Digital Collaboration.
This field report builds on Stelau’s announcement and Nicolas’s account, published on 7 September and reshared by Stelau. The opening photograph comes from that post.
Bringing implementations face to face
On 30 and 31 August, the 15th international ISO mdoc and PhotoID interoperability event brought together teams testing their wallets and verifiers against each other. For Stelau, the tests covered the France Identité wallet, its proximity verifier and our ISO 18013-7 online verifier.
Nicolas reports excellent interoperability with other implementations. The value lies in the method: stepping outside a controlled environment, discussing with other teams and observing what technical choices produce in real exchanges.
We do not publish a Stelau-specific success rate here: the post provides no detailed measurements. An interoperability result describes tested scenarios; on its own, it does not establish certification.
A France Identité age credential in Google Wallet
One highlight was the successful import of a France Identité age credential into Google Wallet, issued using our OpenID4VCI technology. The demonstration brought several months of work with the Google Wallet team to fruition.
OpenID4VCI describes the issuance of verifiable credentials to a wallet. Here, its practical value is visible: a credential produced in one ecosystem reaches another wallet through a shared protocol.

Harmonising ISO and OpenID, together
During Global Digital Collaboration, from 1 to 3 September, Nicolas also attended the first in-person meeting of the OpenID Foundation’s Digital Credentials Harmonized Presentation (DCHP) working group.
The DCHP group’s objective is to harmonise credential presentation protocols across ISO and OpenID work, for both in-person and online exchanges. The meeting brings together teams facing common questions in their code and use cases.
The week’s conversations also covered privacy, the Digital Credentials API, agent identity, and issuance and verification journeys. These discussions extend the testing and inform future development.
An award celebrating the community
The Fides Collaboration Award recognised the collective work of the ISO/IEC 18013-5 mobile driving licence (mDL) community. Nicolas shares his pleasure at that moment in his Geneva account.
This recognition belongs to a community. It reflects what makes interoperability progress: standards, code and tests, alongside engineers making time to work together.
What we bring to your projects
At Stelau, this practical experience connects specification analysis, component development and examination of protocol exchanges. We apply it to issuance services, wallets and verifiers, both in person and online.
